    Manor of Langford reciting: admission on 12 April 1837 of the Rev Montague Earle Welby, then of Long Bennington, Lincs, clerk, to: - toft where a cottage formerly stood - close or pightle, previously pasture, adjoining (2a) in Langford - windmill since erected on part of said premises formerly in occupation of Thomas West - messuage or dwelling house erected on said toft Said premises then were and had been for several years in the occupation of John Phipps Also reciting that at a Court on 13 November 1840 the said M E Welby was, under a deed of conveyance from the Poor Law Guardians of the Biggleswade Union, appointed tenant of: - copyhold messuage in Langford (then divided into 4 tenements) and formerly used as the Parish Workhouse or Poorhouse (1r 20p) in occupation of Richard Sabey, Samuel Norman, William Norman and Edward Horley Said M Earle Welby died on 12 October 1871. Will dated 26 July 1869. Proved (PPR) on 30 November 1871 by which he devised before mentioned property to the uses as expressed in deed of 30 July 1817 By deed of 14 April 1874, enrolled in the Manor Court Book on 30 April 1874: i) J E Welby ii) Thomas Fowke Andrew Burnaby, Langford Hall, Nottingham, Esq i) granted and confirmed to ii): - all copyhold messuages etc at Langford (and elsewhere) to hold discharged from all the estate in tail male or in tail Now said J E Welby by said T F A Burnaby, his attorney, is admitted tenant to said premises by virtue of said disentailing deed yearly rents - 2s and 2s
