    Queen's Bench Case 1886 W No.3884 affidavit by plaintiff Frederic Willis in support of summons against Edward Woods; compiled by John W.Sykes of 39 Old Broad Street, London: "I Frederic Willis of Leighton Buzzard in the County of Bedford, Solicitor, make oath and say as follows: - 1. The above named Defendant is justly and truly indebted to me in the sum of One hundred and seven pounds nine shillings and twopence for principal and interest due to me on the joint promissory note of himself and his late father Richard Woods and dated the twenty sixth day of July One thousand eight hundred and seventy eight as appears by the endorsement on the writ of summons issued in this action 2. I have made repeated applications to the defendant for payment of the amount due to me from him in reply to which he has always promised payment 3. I verily believe that the Defendant has no defence whatever to the action and that he has entered an appearance solely for the purpose of delay Sworn before John Newton at Leighton Buzzard
