Letter from Berry Christian at 384 Commercial Road East, London to John Thomas Green: "I beg to enclose the Builder's a/c for repairs and alterations to the above estate. I have received but £165 from Messrs Winstanley & Horwood towards the contract (£209) altho' Mr.Horwood promised me it all. The extra work is for altering and making additions to the house lately occupied by Tyler who paid £21:12:0 per annum. I have, now that it is a private house, let it at £26 (10/- per week). The balance in favor [sic] of Miss Hammond at the end of last month was £27:6:7, but I have since paid £12:6:7 for rates. May I therefore ask you kindly to send me a Cheque for the Builder and return his a/c for me to get receipted as he presses for payment. I see no reason now why the balance in hand should not increase monthly".
