Paper headed RMW "Langley as County Court Bailiff sold up George Denton of Ridgmont the other day Denton owed his two apprentices Seabrook & Pridmore £3/15 and £3/0/3 respectively. Notice was given to Langley by the Parents to pay these sums out of proceeds of sale as preferential debts but he said he would only deal with the Trustees. Now I have received inst[ruct]ions from the Trustees so go and see Langley & try it in. I don't myself see in the least why Langley should pay" On reverse, note on sums owed to Seabrook and Pridmore with note by R.M.White: "I carried out Mr.Tanquerays request at the time but was of no use as he said Langley had been advised that he could not pay the Apprentices am sorry but I overlooked returning Indenture. P.S. please ask M if forms are now complete to kindly send remainder I may want a couple of Orders to find sureties tomorrow. 15 ordinary cases CB.S.Bd."
