Letter from George Dolton at Woburn Road, Ampthill to T.Wilson: "I called on William Dowler late tenant of the above cottage for the odd weeks rent, Dowler says that he didn't think he could be made to pay has he didn't have proper notice according to his agreement. I told Dowler that I thought if he looked at his agreement he would find that it stated if he left Mr.Ridgway's employ that he would have to leave the cottage. Dowler produced the copy of the agreement & I found it didn't state anything about Mr.Ridgway's employ. I ask Dowler if he would pay he didn't say he would pay but said he couldn't say when he would"
