    Case for opinion of Counsel drawn up by Mr.Tanqueray of Woburn, solicitor and sent to W.R. Sheldon relating to the estate of John Read deceased. (includes Sheldon's hand written replies): - Reciting: John Read's will whereby he purchased certain land at Maulden for £365 and devised it to his son in law William Robinson Roberts and his daughter Mary Ann his wife and after their decease to their children; John Read died in 1846; Mary survived William; By her marriage with William, Mary had 6 children; On 25th Aug 1858 Mary Ann Roberts married Charles Riddle and had 3 children; Mary died on the 29th Dec 1908 and the following children were then living: 'Alfred W. Roberts, Emma Mary - then Emma Mary Thackway, but now a widow, Elizabeth Victoria - then Eliza Victoria Wright she having married Edward Wright on the 13th Feb 1872, Wilhelmina Louisa Roberts, Charles Tom Riddle and Harriett Riddle then Harriet Roberts Robert's she having married William Henry Roberts on the 9th Oct 1883'; the said children are now desirous of selling the said piece of land and questions have arisen as to who are the persons entitled to the spoils and who can make good title; Marion Roberts (child of first marriage) died in America in 1882 and by her will appointed a Mr. Horsey executor, the will is now lost; Marion had savings in America and her brother Alfred William Roberts took out letters of administration and divided the funds'. - 'Whether all the children living at or born after the death of the testator and before the death of the said Mary Ann Roberts are entitled to share or only such of them as were living at the date of death of the said Mary'? - 'If counsel is also of opinion that Louisa Roberts Riddle (only lived a few months and died in 1862) was also entitled to a share she having died intestate her father Charles Riddle would be her heir at law'.
