  • Title
    Folio 173d John Walen senior of Shitlington made 4 Apr. 1543, proved 10 Sept. 1543. Burial in the church yard of All Hallowes in Shitlington. To the high altar 20d.; to Fraternity of Jesus in the said church 6s. 8d.. His wife is to have testator's head place with all lands and appurtenances for her life, with reversion to testator's son Robert and his wife and their heirs, except the Churche Hill and the Bery Lot which testator's wife can give or sell to whichever of her children she wishes. Should son Robert die without issue his wife (if still living) is to have the house and lands to her and her heirs lawfully begotten. Should both Robert and his wife die without surviving issue, then the property is to remain to the next of testator's blood, and so to be sold and the money arising to be divided evenly between his sons' children. His daughter Elzabeth Harvey is to have the house called Hamontes with its lands on the death of the testator, except for the crop now on the ground. The testator's wife is to sell the meadow called The Baylyve Medowe, and then to give to testator's son's son William £4 at the age of 21, and should the grandson die under the age of 21 then the money to be at his wife's disposition. Residue to wife, who is executrix with sons Thomas and John Overseers, each son to have 6s. 8d.. Wife to spend 20s. at his burial and 20s. at his month's day and 3 months after his month's day 5s..
