    Folio 152d John Worseley of Wotton made 8 Feb. 1542/3, proved 12 Apr. 1542 [sic]. Burial in the church of St. Mary in Wotton; 40s. for a cloth for the high altar; to the high altar for tithes forgotten 8d.. His executors are to keep a taper of one and a half pounds of wax before the Rood during their lives, to be renewed once a year, and "kepte with tackes" on festival days as the other tapers. To the bells 12d.. To mending the Howe Layne 3s. 4d.. To his godson Francis Worseley testator's cupboard, his best coffer, his best brass pot, best pan, best kettle, a bedstead, a featherbed and a bolster, a charger, a latten basin, all after the death of testator's wife. Should wife die before Francis comes to the age of 24, in the meantime the goods are to go to Francis' father and mother. Should Francis himself die, then the property to go to the next brother, in default to the next sister. To the forenamed godson Francis a cow and a bullock, to be given to him by testator's wife in her lifetime. To testator's son Thomas half an acre of wheat and an acre of barley and 7 acres of pease. To godson Francis Worseley 6 silver spoons after the deaths of his grandmother and his father, or if Francis die then to his next of kin. To every godchild 4d.. Should testator's wife die, or let the ground "that I dwell in" then John Worseley is to have the property, paying her £3 6s. 8d. per annum. However, his wife is to keep an obit for testator during her life at the cost of 10s. a year, and on her death John Worseley is to keep the obit during his lifetime. To John Worseley his best sleeved coat, his chamblet doublet, and his buckskin doublet, and his best hose. Residue to wife Cristian, executrix, and to cousin John Worseley [?executor] , Robert Wodill to be Overseer.
