Jone Mylward of Upper Gravenhurste, widow of Henry Milward of the same town, made 18 Sep. 1540, proved 10 Jan. 1541/2.
"I bequeth my soull to Almeightie God". Burial in the church yard of Upper Gravenhurst next to the body of her late husband Henry Mylward. To the mother church of Lincoln 2d.; to the high altar of Upper Gravenhurste for tithes etc. forgotten 12d..
Her red cow is to go to the Guardians or Church Wardens of Upper Gravenhurst to the use of the church on condition that the churchwardens keep a yearly anniversary for the souls of the testator and all Christians for the next 20 years, expending for dirige, mass and drinking for the people "repareing thether yerely for the tyme of the sayd yere tyde" 20d..
To her son William the brindled cow, her new gown cloth, a brass pan, a brass pot and 20s. in money to be paid him by her son John out of the 60 marks which the said John owes to her.
To son Richard a feather bed, best bolster, a pair of best blankets, the best coverlet, 2 of the best pillows, 4 pair of the best sheets, 2 pillowberes, a tablecloth, a table napkin, the best towel, 2 of her best kirchers, 2 of the best red cushions, her red beads with the silver and rings thereon, her best brass pot, 2 brass pans of which one has 2 ears, her best posnet, 8 of her best pewter platters, 4 of her best pewter dishes, 4 of her best pewter saucers, her best latten basin, another pewter basin, 2 bell candlesticks, a "laver" of latten, 40s. in money to be paid by testator's son John out of the same sum he owes her.
To sons William and Richard all her sheep, both old and young, now in the custody of John Stephen, 26 in number more or less.
To each of son John's three daughters a ewe and a lamb, now in the custody of the said John. To Joane (one of the three daughters) testator's best gown.
To the church of Upper Gravenhurst a towel. To each of 15 godchildren 4d..
Residue to son John, he to bury testator and to expend at her funeral to priests, clerks and poor people 13s. 4d., and at her month's day 6s. 8d..
