Folio 116 Richard Bayteman of Dunstable, made 18 Feb. 1541, pr. 20 Apr. 1542. Testament Burial within the parish church of St. Peter of Dunstable. To the mother church of Lincoln 4d.; to the high altar of the parish church 12d.; to the St. John's altar a sheet to make an altar cloth; to the upkeep of the parish church 20d.. To mend the highway at the West End of Dunstable between the Cross and the hedges against a close which was sometime testator's close 3s. 4d.. To kinsman Thomas Butler a violet coat. To John Frorte the great brass chafer. To Thomas Bayteman of Cadington a brazen mortar with a pestle. To 9 of his godchildren 9 groats: Thomas Butler, John Butler, Elen Butler, Richard Skelton, Richard Freman, Richard Hobson, Richard Falconer, Richard Knightley and Agnes Dawes. To Edmund Baytman testator's best gown, provided he make no further trouble about anything of testator's. To sir Thomas Masse curate 12d.. Residue to his executors John Sprat and John Fenseham, each to have 5s.. Supervisor Thomas Fynche senior, to whom 20d.. Will His house and lands are to be sold by his executors, and the money arising used to fund a yearly dirige to the value of 6s. 8d. in the parish church of Dunstable, to be done solemnly with all the bells as long as the money lasts.
