Scope and Content
Burial in the church yard of St. Peter of Harlyshey; to the high altar there for tithes forgotten a bushel of wheat; to the Sepulchre light half a quarter of barley; 2 bushels of barley each to the Rood light, the torch lights, and the bells there.
To mending the highways in the town of Arlyshey where most need is 3s. 4d..
To son Richard Baldock a quarter of wheat and to each of his 2 children a quarter of barley and a sheep.
To Richard Landey/Laudey testator's best coat and 12s. in money, and to his wife a great pan and to his 2 children a quarter of barley and 2 bullocks each.
To Wystyns children 13s. 4d. between them.
To goddaughter Alys Baldocke half a quarter of barley.
To godson Henry Persyvall half a quarter of barley.
To his other godchildren a bushel of barley each.
To his son Thomas all his copyholds in Arleysey except for one which testator's wife is to have for the term of her life, "And my sonne William bequeth hem and his eyres in his will and a close at Wynfall wiche is Fre".
To his wife [?]Gesten a copyholding called Ballardes for her lifetime and 2 and a half acres of land ready tilled and sown, and as much wood as she will spend to her hearth. On her death the property is to go to Thomas Baldoke and his heirs.
Residue to wife Gesten, executrix, with his son Thomas executor.
