Scope and Content
Burial in the church yard of All Hallowes of Chalgrave. To the mother church of Lincoln 4d.; "To the Holy Sacrament of my parysshe churche of Chalgrave" for tithes forgotten, 2 bushels of barley; to the torches there 2 bushel of barley; to the bells and the upkeep of church one bushel of barley.
To son Robert Pers a yoke of two year old bullocks.
To son Edmind Pers a couple of bullocks of the same age.
To son Phillippe "a cowple of 2 yeres old".
To son John a couple of year old bullocks.
To daughter Alice a couple of year old heifers.
To every child a ewe and a lamb and 2 quarters of barley of next year's growing.
The share of any child dying is to be divided among the survivors.
If all die, half of their bequests to be used for the souls of the testator and all Christians, an the other half to go Margret his wife.
To each child a featherbed, a bolster, a pillow, a pair of sheets, a pair of blankets, a coverlet and a covering, and if any child die then their share to be divided as above.
He wishes that a lead, a great spit and a pair of standing irons remain in the house as heirlooms.
To wife Margret his best featherbed with all things belonging to it.
The remaining goods are to be sold to pay his debts, and to provide for his wife.
