- TitleMortgage agreement Parties: (i) Thomas Cook of Steppingley, Beds, farmer. (ii) Hannah Cook of Steppingley, widow. (iii) William Goodman of Sherington, Buckinghamshire, farmer. Reciting: - John Cook late of Steppingley died on the 26 Jan 1864 and was at his death seized of (a). - By the will of John Cook dated 18 Dec 1861 (proved 23 mar 1864) he gave and devised all real estate to Hannah Cook, Humphrey Carte and William Daniel (trustees) upon certain trusts until his said son Thomas Cook should attain age of 30 and then upon trust to convey (a) to (i) subject to an annuity of £100 to said Hannah his wife. - Thomas Cook has since attained the said age of 30. Operative: - Agreement for mortgage from (i) and (ii) to (iii) for £500 and interest at £4 per cent per annum. Covenants - If default in payment then payment with same level of interest is to be paid in equal half yearly payments. - If sum shall remain unpaid (i) and (ii) will execute a valid mortgage by which (a) is conveyed to (iii) for security of repayment. Property: (a) Freehold messuages, cottages and land at Steppingley described as (a-j) at HN10/361/Cook2. Witnessed by Edwin Abbiss of Steppingley, wheelwright and Frederic Tanqueray of Woburn, solicitor. Memorandum on reverse dated 1 May 1903: Upon the death of William Goodman on 27 Apr 1883 the principal interest in this security devolved upon Mary & Emma Goodman the next of kin of William; and under the will of Mary Goodman (proved 11 Mar 1889) her interest in this security passed to Emma who was also sole executor of her will; and under the will of Emma (proved 17 May 1902) John Thomas Green is the surviving executor and residuary legatee and declares that he has received from Hannah Cook all principal and interest due.
