  • Scope and Content
"It is utterly impossible for you or H [Harriette Elizabeth Trevor Brooks, his wife] ever to touch a farthing or the capital of your Trust Fund until yr younger child is 21, & there is an absolute impossibility of there being any further issue of the marriage. The whole Fund is entirely & absolutely yr children's not yours at all. You have only a life interest in it, & perforce it is quite out of the question your proposal to deal with part of the money as you suggest. No Trustee would ever lend himself to such a transaction. To insure yr life would only diminish your Income for life without giving any tangible security, & I still think the best plan would be to send me a complete list of all your liabilities, & authorize the Trustees to reimburse themselves from your Income from the Trust Fund. You had better ask John Green if he will consent to this I am not at all sure he will, or can, thus allow you to anticipate. Whatever he consents to I will willingly agree to & make an adjustment of yr affairs with as little delay as possible. Nothing however can be done without a Schedule of Liabilities to which you could swear, if necessary, as to its accuracy"
