    Described as: - a good stone built farmhouse with stable, yard etc. 0a 1r 37p; - Home Close 3a 1r 29p; - Pightle 0a 3r 21p; - Upper Home Ground 17a 2r 9p; - Three Corner Field 9 acres; - Stone Pitfield - 17 acres; - Second Ground 19a 2r 0p; - Further Field 19a 2r 0p; - a good stone built home, brewhouse, barn, stable, walled garden ["this I take to be Sharwood's" J.T.B.] 0a 2r 5p; - 4 cottages, gardens etc. ["I am not certain whether one of these cottages was pulled down to repair the others J.T.B."] 38 poles; - total 88a 0r 19p "The Archester Farm is in general very rich land & well adapted to grazing it should therefore be laid down by depths[?]; the Further Field & the Second Ground, being furthest from the Homestead, should be first laid down, and especially the further field, which is heavy & laborious ploughing. The Tenant upon a term of 6 or 9 years should lay down. the Farm is now (1815) well worth 130 a year and would when all laid down be worth 180. Of the above 8a1 2r 9p allotments 63a 1r 15p are Freehold and 19a 0r 34p are Copyhold. Upon the enclosure in 1773 the estate was exonerated from Tythes. His Majesty, as Duke of Lancaster, is Lord of the Manor of Archester. The King's Rent is 1:11:- a year from which is deducted 6s Land Tax & Property Tax shall be deducted, but not till the Land Tax is first deducted, leaving 25s subject & Property Tax. The award upon the enclosure is enrolled with the Clerk of the Peace at Northampton & in the Duchy Court at Lancaster, Westminster Hall, the original award may perhaps be in the Chest in the Parish Church. This Estate is settled upon Mrs.Brooks [my Mother J.T.B.] and the Heirs of her Body by her father's marriage settlement" "The above is copied out verbatim from the Book but I can find no Map or plan"
