  • Title
Letter by J.R.Eve at 2 St.Paul's Square, Bedford to John Thomas Green: - "Mr.Powdrill has sold to Mr.Ephraim Sycamore of Luton, 4 houses in Arthur Street being the first 4 in that street in the West side of it, included in your mortgage. His (Sycamore's) wish is that you should act for him and of course for Powdrill in the metter & he would like a transfer of a certain amount of the mortgage on to these 4 houses, or if necessary, a new mortgage releasing Mr.Powdrill from same, and I enclose you a Certificate [see HN10/276/Powdrill6] which will enable you to act if you are so disposed. I have told Powdrill that I feel sure you will not require any notice from him as long as security is found for the money forthwith - in fact it was by this means that I brought Sycamore to you. I send you the Contract which Sycamore has signed, the last part referring to a purchase which he had previously made in Tavistock Street but he now prefers the houses in Arthur Street and Powdrill prefers selling those. Sycamore will not be able to find all the rest of the money but Powdrill has agreed that what he cannot pay shall remain as a second charge. I will give you further information about this when I hear from Powdrill who promised to write to me today. If I am not present when you settle this, please draw 2.2.0 from Sycamore for my trouble & certificate"
