  • Title
    (i) Agreement between Charles F Hawkes (a tenant at Mead Farm, Stanbridge) and A W Merry (acting as a Bailiff on behalf of Hawkes' landlord E J Holmes). The agreement states that A W Merry has levied a distress on the goods, chattels and effects at Mead Farm for arrears of rent due from the tenant to his landlord, 24 July 1914 (2 copies plus a draft dated 5 July 1913). (ii) Correspondence: F Hawkes to A W Merry asking if he should be allowed to keep his goods and chattels on the place where they are now impounded, 5 July 1913 (1 copy plus draft). (iii) Warrant to distrain: stating that C F Hawkes is to have his goods, chattels and effects seized for the sum of 18-10, due to the fact that he owes two quarters rent, 5 July 1913 (2 copies). (iv) Warrant to distrain: stating that C F Hawkes is to have his goods, chattels and effects seized for the sum of 123-15, due to the fact that he owes two quarters rent 24 July 1914. (v) Correspondence: F Hawkes to A W Merry requesting that he should be allowed to keep his goods and chattels on the place where they are now impounded, 24 July 1914. (vi) Warrant to distrain: stating that C F Hawkes is to have his goods, chattels and effects seized for the sum of 73-13, due to the fact that he owes one quarters rent, 6 October 14.
