Letter from Thomas Gorham Pierson to Theed Pearse (see previous item). Sends additional abstract requested to Mr Clutterbuck's purchase. Also letter with statement of all Kempston property included in mortgages 'in which you will observe that this particular property is not embraced therein'. Cannot account for allotment of 2r 1p to his father, while his [writer's] grandfather was alive. Could he discover his grandmother's will, which is referred to in an admission copy in Kempston Hardwick it might throw some light. Has not yet searched at Bedford, though. 'If you can point out any means of identifying the possession at small expence ..I will thank you to do so'. Purchaser as he resides on the spot can 'readily satisfy himself on the point' . 2 November 1842 On back: draft of reply to T G Pierson from Pearse and Son. After their notice that Mr Clutterbuck considered his contract at an end, were surprised to receive a further abstract. Will return it by tomorrow's coach with an account of costs 'which he requires to be immediately paid.' 'Lots 4,5,6,,7. The irregularity with which this Business is conducted on the part of the Vendors perfectly baffles us - we must try what a Court of Equity will do for us'
