    Reports and Papers - the Chaplain'sreport of 16 Oct 1849 has a table showing parish and number of Bedfordshire prisoners committed during year and the counties and countries which others came from. Ages are also given (including 2 boys under 12) and state of education. There is a deaf and dumb man in the gaol at this date. In the report for January 1849 he mentions that he has found it impossible to convince men that it is morally wrong to violate game laws. The visiting Justices of the Gaol and House of Correction report in respect of the arrangements as to the new prison (ie in which part is Gaol and which House of Correction) with the names and salaries of officers, Michaelmas 1849 Mortgages to Thomas Barnard nos 21-30 (and copies) 2 Jan 1849, with note on back of copies as to death of Thos. Barnard, on 3 June 1853, and the appointment of his sons, Talbot and Thos, as exors.
