[Information supplied by Mrs. Hopkins to Biggleswade Chronicle who published the photograph 29th Jan. 1982] One of the women in the hoeing picture 'was courting all her life' and never married. When her hair was going grey she dyed it with black ink, - caught in a heavy downpour of rain 'she looked a mess - black ink all down her neck and frock - you never saw such a sight'.
