W Series of Bedfordshire Times negatives. Artificial series.

This appears to have been the beginning of the first attempt to weed the negative series. Boxes were numbered 01-01240 and although they mostly cover the period 1934-1937 the negatives were not in any particular order. At some point the negatives were reordered, possibly by subject, and renumbered; it is unclear whether any list was made to accompany the new numbers, which also included plates which can no longer be identified in the index to the O series (BP35/1). In order to distinguish this partial early series from the main series of BTNeg it was decided to attempt to revert to the 'O' numbers used in the index (BP35/1), but to replace the 'O' with 'W'. Where it has not been possible to find the number in the index plates have been grouped at the end after W2000. Unidentified plates have been grouped by subject after W3000. The series includes a number of negatives which should probably be in the main series but whose original numbers and dates can no longer be indentified.
