"The examination of Mary Warner of the parish of Eversholt and Robert Thomkins of the same taken before me Thomas Armstrong, one of his Majesties Justices of the Peace, this fifth day of August 1721. Being duly sworn, this deponent Mary Warner, says that Ann French, her mistress, did on Thursday the third of this instant August severely beat the said Mary Warner...Robert Thomkins says that he saw Ann French beat Mary Warner and after he parted them Ann French struck the said Mary Warner again."
