    Son of Benjamin and Mary Anne Marsh who settled in Goldington. About Michaelmas Day, or within a few days, 1804, his mother being dead and his father absent serving as a soldier, he was let by the Goldington parish officers to serve Samuel Tyso of Renhold as servant in husbandry; was not present at the contract, if any; lived with Tyso until his death after the following Christmas but before the following Lady Day; was paid off his wages 15s by Thomas Street of Renhold, executor to Tyso; let himself same day to Thomas Brown, owner of the farm Tyso held for one guinea and a half until Michaelmas following and served until then; has omitted to say that he was told by George Palmer of Goldington, Overseer, on Michaelmas Day 1804 that he was to go live with Tyso who was to give him 30s a year 'and that I was not to be long a day or two before I went to his service'; has done no other act to gain settlement; enlisted 9 years ago into Bedfordshire Militia; married on Sunday, 25 March 1817, in Cardington to Mary Anne Yoxen and have no child. Legal references note at foot of paper, apparently regarding hiring and service, change of master. On dorse: legal opinion (same date), that pauper should be removed to prima facie settlement-- the place of his birth.
