Affidavit sworn in Chancery by Anthony Bumstead of Ashley Lodge, New Forest [Hampshire], groomkeeper, as to his title to Fritnells: - his grandfather, Richard Bumstead of Aspley Guise in his will of 10 Jul 1717 left the land to his wife Susannah, after her death to his two sons Richard and Robert; - Robert Bumstead died about 1740; - Susannah Bumstead died about 1745 leaving the premises in the possession of Anthony's father Richard Bumstead of Woburn Toll Gate, labourer; - Richard Bumstead's will of 24 Geb 1773 devised Fritnells to Anthony; - all three of Richard Bumstead's children older than Anthony died during their father's life time, under age and unmarried; - no mortgage or other incumbrance on the property; - sworn before Edward Montague
