    Copy will of Martin Hall of High Laver [Essex], clerk: - his body to be buried at the east end of High Laver church, his grave to be arched with brick with a plain stone at the top with the inscription "Martin Hall, late Rector of this parish, dyed....aged..."; - 5 given to the poor of the parish; - six neighbouring clergymen to hold his pall with kid gloves, silk hatbands, and silk scarves; - "a dozen of wine, half white half red"; - a guinea to the officiating minister to buy a ring; - all tithe paying farmers in High Laver to have a crepe hatband and pair of common black top gloves and a shilling to each bearing the coffin "there needs then no hearse nor coach, let all walk and let the bearers relieve one another, there ought to be two sets of bearers"; - beer or other liquor in the house undrunk to be sold "or carried off by my executor"; - to his brother Edward Hall, Rector of Aspley Guise, a guinea to buy a ring, all his books except his wife's prayer book, and 5; - to his sisters Mary and Martha Hall a guinea each to buy a ring and 20 each; - to his daughter-in-law Susanna Barron two silver mugs marked JBS, her mother's prayer book, a silver chain, child's spoon and coral with bells and a guinea to buy a ring; - to his deceased wife's sister Elizabeth Peters a guinea to buy a ring; - to his nephew John Hall of London, grocer, a guinea to buy a ring and to be executor and to receive the residue of his real and personal estate Witnesses: William Tredwell Bull; Thomas Redington; George Green [his mark]
