    Abstract of Title of John Smith to premises in Wilden PEAR TREE CLOSE and ALLOTMENT of 14a 0r 14p (I) conveyance of 18 & 19 Mar 1719 from Alice Smith of Goldington, spinster to Mary Smith of Goldington, spinster, her sister for 250 of (a) several closes of pasture in Wilden commony called Pear Tree Close, Home Field Close and Smarticks Pightle in occupation of Richard Wagstaff; (b) pieces of arable, ley, meadow and pasture in Wilden parish fields comprising 35 acres in occupation of Richard Wagstaff (II) mortgage by demise for 500 years of 4 Jun 1752 in which Matthias Essex of Felmersham, shopkeeper lent 50 at 4% interest to Mary Law of Carlton, widow (one of daughters of Abraham Smith of Wilden, deceased) and Edward Law of Carlton, yeoman (eldest son and heir of Mary Law by Thomas Law her late husband) on security of 3 closes and 35 acres of land in occupation of John Swales and [blank] Wagstaff as oultined in (I) above (III) deed poll of assignment of mortgage of 15 Jun 1775 endorsed on (II) of Elizabeth Essex of Felmersham, daughter and administratrix of Elizabeth Essex of Felmersham, widow, deceased (who was relict of Matthias Essex) reciting that 50 was still due on mortgage and that John Smith of Wilden, carpenter had paid her 50 and so she assigned the mortgage to him (IV) lease and release of 12 & 13 Aug 1776 by way of conveyance from William Law of Horsham [Sussex], hatter (son and heir of Edward Law of Carlton, yeoman, deceased) to John Smith the younger of Ravensden, yeoman for 100 of several pieces of land in Wilden called Pear Tree Close, Home Field Close and Smartick's Pightle in occupation of Richard Wagstaffe, the John Smith the elder and 35 acres of land in Wilden subject to mortgage of 4 Jun 1752 which John Smith agreed to pay henceforth (V) will of John Smith of 10 Feb 1802 leaving to his son John Smith all his real and the residue of his personal estate; will proved in Archdeaconry Court of Bedford on 14 May 1803 PREMISES PURCHASED FROM JOHN WAGSTAFF (VI) Indenture of 8 Jul 1810 Parties: (1) Samuel Whitbread of Southill, esquire (only son and heir and devisee under last will and testament of Samuel Whitbread, late of Bedwell Park [Hertfordshire] and Cardington, esquire, deceased); (f) piece of land in Marsh Field behind Mortgagee Wood containing 3a 1r 10p; (g) 4 acres of land in Toft Furlong in Great Field; (h) 1 acre in Middle Furlong of Great Field; (i) 3 acres in Bottom Furlong of Great Field; (j) 6 lands, 2 gores and a headland in Twins Closes in Riddings Field containing 2 acres; (k) 3 acres of land in Westland Furlong, Riddings Field containing 3 acres; (l) 3 pieces of land in Riddings Corner, Riddings Field containing 2 acres (VIII) Mortgage of 10 May 1814 from John Smith to William Bowyer of Diddington [Huntingdonshire], gentleman for 950 at 5% interest secured on property below acquired by (VII) above and by lease and release of 5 & 6 Apr 1814 between (1) John Clare and Elizabeth his wife; Thomas Clare and Sophia his wife; (2) Ebenezer Cavit and Martha his wife; (3) John Head; (4) William Abbott; (5) John Smith; (6) Benjamin Jefferies and by a fine sur conizance de droit come ceo covenanted to be leived: (a) messuage and homestead in Wilden with adjoining close of pasture of 1a 2r 15p; (f) allotment in Riddins Field, Wilden containing 27a 2r 10p bounded by Renhold road and ancient inclosure of Henry Bull and allotments to Robert Newman and Alice Wootton, by (e) and an allotment sold by John Smith to Sarah Toms, by allotment to Alice Francis, by parish of Renhold, by allotment to John Wagstaff and by (d); (g) allotment in Church Field, Wilden of 12a 1r 8p bounded by part of Church Field belonging to Duke of Bedford, by (h), by part of Church Field allotted to Rector of Wilden, by inclosures of John Smith and Trustees of Wilden School;
