    Copy Will and Codicil of Howard Spensley of Westoning Manor, Bedford and 5 Montpelier Place, Knightsbridge, whereby he appointed Calvert Spensley of 39 England's Lane, Hampstead, Sir Denham Warmington, bart., of Great Missenden and his brother-in-law, Wilfred Arnold Fairchild as his Trustees and executors, and made the following bequests: - a silver plated spirit stand with three glass bottles, formerly the property of his garndmother, Mary Susan Staughton to his nephew Simon Thomas Samuel Staughton, and a bureau desk and two large pearl pins and to his son, Simon David Howard Lad Staughton, a gold watch - his household stores at Westoning and London to his sister, Ethel Fairchild - to his brother-in-law, WAF, all his guns and fishing rods - all his other jewellry to his sisters, Tassie Mary Skene and Ethel Fairchild - to George Walton an annuity of 30s per week for life and also the use of the cottage in which he lived at the time if Howard Spensley's death - Charlotte Walton an annuity of 1 per week for life, to be increased by 30s on the death of her father and also the use of the cottage as above for life, to be repaired and insurance paid out of his residuary estate- subject to a mortgage to secure a loan of 1000 to Mrs Firth of Vicars Close, Biddenham without interest for a period of 10 years, the sum of 1000 to his Trustees to be used for the benefit of his godson, Michael Firth - to the National Arts Collection Fund to be by them given to the Government for the State of Victoria, Australia, his collection of bronze figures, ivories, Persian or Asiatic Prayer rugs, books, etc. - his house and premises at 5 Montpelier Place, Knightsbridge to his Trustees to allow his sister Ethel Fairchild to have use thereof for life, and after her death to his niece, Mary Brignoli. - his land, houses and buildings in the parishes of Westoning, Harlington and Tingrith, including the lordship of the manor of Westoning and the advowson of the living of Westoning to the National Trust upon trust for his sister Ethel for life, after her decease to his sister Tassie Mary Skene for life, and after the death of both sisters for the use of the High Commissioner representing the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia in England 'for the time being to be used by him as a Country Residence in a way similar to that in which Chequers is used by the Prime Minister of England'. - the Old School Buildings at Westoning and adjoining house (now in the occupation of Mr. H.S. Pride) to the National Trust to be by them settled for the use and benefit of the parish of Westoning - directing the Trustees of the Royal Arcade and Annex Settlements shall stand possessed of his share of the Trust premises Copy Codicil dated 26 Feb 1938, whereby: - he revoked all references to his niece, Mary Brignoli, and in lieu thereof he bequeathed the sum of 2000 to be added to the trust fund of 8000 created by the will of his mother, Martha Tasmania Spensley for the benefit of Mary Brignoli - to Charlotte Walton furniture of her choosing from Westoning Manor House and a sum of 100 free from duty.
