    Probate, will and four codicils of General Sir William Fawcett, Lt.Col.of 15th Foot and Adjutant General of His Majesty's Forces: WILL (22 Oct 1789) - desire to be interred in as private a manner as possible wherever he died "without any more form or ceremony than common decency may require"; - to his daughter Ann Selina Farrer, wife of Oliver Farrer, 1,000 to be paid after the death of his wife, Charlotta, "as a particular mark of distinction which I wish to shew her, on account of that filial respect and attention which, even from her childhood, she never ceased to shew both to her mother, during her life time, and to myself"; - to Anna Selina Farrer, 2,000 to be paid after the death of Charlotta Fawcett; - to his son Walker Dawson Fawcett "now serving in the East Indies", 1,000, to be paid after the death of Charlotta Fawcett; - to his daughter Mary Aked, 1,000 to be paid after death of Charlotta Fawcett; - residue of real and personal estate to Charlotta Fawcett "known from agreeable experience, the equity of her principles and the goodness of her heart, as well as the soundness of her judgement, I shall die fully persuaded that she will not only carry religiously into effect my will respecting the above legacies...."; - Charlotta to be sole executrix; - made on "anniversary of my happy union with one of the best of her sex, my present dearly beloved wife" FIRST CODICIL (1 Jan 1792): - to Oliver Farrer a 20 guinea ring inscribed with a few words by Charlotta Fawcett; - to William Sutherin, his butler, if in his service at his death, 50 guineas; - to William Sutherin, son of the above, 100 to be paid after death of Charlotta Fawcett; - to Mary North, wife of John North of Yately, near Blackwater [Hampshire], 50; - to William Booth (born at Salisbury on 9 Apr 1789 and since removed to a free school kept by Charles Lawson at Manchester, his mother believed still to be living), infant son of a friend "to whom I owe many obligations and for whom I always entertained a warm friendship and affection" 500, recommending Charlotta Fawcett to secure it so that at 21 it might fix him in a trade, occupation or profession, owing 5% interest on it for his yearly maintenance, the money to go to his mother if he die before age 21 SECOND CODICIL (2 Apr 1798): - at particular request of Charlotta Fawcett; - to Charlotta Fawcett all real and personal estate and after her death, the following: - legacies to Ann Selina Farrer, and Walker Dawson Farrer to be paid as laid down in his will; - to male children of his eldest son Maj.Gen.William Fawcett, 500 each and to his daughters 1,000 each to be paid after death of Charlotta Fawcett, the legacies to be "totally dependent on the will and pleasure of my dearly beloved wife" with power to her to vary or annul them; - residue of his estate to be divided equally among his children after the death of Charlotta Fawcett; - to his daughter Mary Lister 100 per annum from property or, if she outlive her elder sister, 100 out of the 200 given to Ann Selina Farrer, the other 100 per annum being given to Charlotta Fawcett if she survive Ann Selina Farrer THIRD CODICIL (1 Jul 1803): - to Charlotta Fawcett the house in Great George Street, recently purchased, and vested in Oliver Farrer of Bedford Square in trust; - witnessed by Anthony Burrow, John Parkinson and Frederick Langlok junior FOURTH CODICIL (16 Sep 1803): - republication of will and codicils witnessed by Joseph Lynn, G.Feagan, Eustace Danby, "Chelsea Hospital" DECLARATION (27 Mar 1804): - Thomas Atkinson of Lincolns Inn Fields [Middlesex], gentleman and Anthony Burrow of Lincolns Inn, gentleman authenticated the will and codicils before C.Coote, surrogate of William Slade, notary public - extracted by Slade, Bedford & Slade, Proctors, Doctors, Commons PROBATE (in PCC 28 Mar 1804): - before William Adams, doctor of law, surrogate of Sir William Wynne, Commissary; - by Dame Charlotta Fawcett; - witnesses: George Gostling, Nathaniel Gostling, R.C.Cresswell; - extracted by Slade, Bedford & Slade; - entered into Office of Ordnance on 14 Sep 1804 by James H.Barnown and J.Woolayh; - entered at Board of General Officers by J.Johnson; - entered into Office of Public Accounts on 15 May 1804 by Thomas Gibbes; - entered into Office of Paymaster General of Forces on 26 May 1804 by L.Williams
