Scope and Content
Reciting:
- Humfre Johnson, late of Shefford, deceased, was seised of 4 acres of land and 1 acre of meadow in the fields and meadows of Tempsford, which he bought from Robert Hawes;
- Robert Spenser paid Humfre Johnson and Robert Hawes 5/6/8 by hand of John Slade and John Vycary, new deceased, for the 4 acres of land and 1 acre of meadow;
- Robert Spenser had bestowed the land upon "divers necessarie and Godly purposes requysyte and nedefull wythin the parysshe Blonnham";
- documents of title existed and had come into the hands of Robert Parkyn, who paid rent to William Eyre, Geffrye Osborn and Rychard Ward of Blunham at the command of Robert Spenser;
- Robert Parkyn wrongfully withdrew payment of rent ten years previously and conveyed "divers secrett and vulanfull estates and convayance to diverse persons" to the uses of himself and his heirs;
- Robert Spenser had asked Robert Parkyn for the documents of title and for recompense for the unpaid rent, both of which had been refused;
- Robert Spenser did not know the number of documents of title or where they were stored
