    Release forming a conveyance between (i) John Bateman of Wootton, yeoman, (ii) William Douglass of Kempston, yeoman, (iii) John Simpson of Cardington, esquire, (iv) James Beard, Rector of Cranfield Reciting: - will of 6 May 1804 of Matthew Parke, late of Wootton, yeoman devising to his friend John Pateman [also Bateman] as executor and on trust for sale of: his messuage and tenement and the tenement at the bottom of the yard which he had lately built; with the homestall and three closes of pasture containing 8 acres lately purchased from John Pheasant; and other freehold hereditaments obtained by auction and other means - to be used to pay certain legacies with the remainder to his cousin William Douglass; - death of Matthew Parke and proof of his will in Bedford Archdeaconry Court on 26 Sep 1804; - the legacies to be paid had been settled from the testator's personal estate without sale of his real estate leaving William Douglass as owner of all the testator's real estate Witnessing: sale by (ii) to (iii) (with (iv) as trustee and with the consent of (i)) for £80 with 5/- paid to (i) and (ii) by (iii) and (iv) of: (a) two cottages adjoining each other in Keeley End, Wootton with gardens, one in occupation of Joseph Hinds, now Thomas Ebbs and the other in occupation of James Rogers, bounded: to N by a close now or late in occupation of William Douglass; to S by Keeley Lane or Green; to E by cartway leading to the close of William Douglass; to W by cottage of John Redman. The two cottages were formerly a dovehouse and granary Witnesses: Ralph B.Hankin of Bedford, solicitor and T.J.Thurgood, his clerk, John Sanders and John Burr Endorsed with conveyance of 8 Jun 1824 between (i) John Sanders and John Burr, both of Kempston, yeomen, (ii) John Simpson, (iii) James Beard Reciting: - John Simpson had contracted to purchase from William Douglass for £80 but William Douglass had died before the contract could be executed; William Douglass, in his will of 7 Apr 1824 continued bequeathed £100 to his daughter, Ruth Douglass and all other of his personal and real estate to John Sanders and John Burr on trust for sale; - William Douglass died on 27 Apr 1824 and his will was proved on 5 Jun 1824 in Bedford Archdeaconry Court; - the £80 to be paid by John Simpson was not paid on execution of the release of 4 Apr 1824 Witnessing: (ii) paid £80 to (i) for (a) above
