Witnessing WHG charged all those lands in the 2nd Schedule including amongst other things a cottage and garden of 1 rood 13 perches with the annuity and lump sum (IV) Indenture of mortgage of 25 May 1877 from WHG to John Charles McGrath of the Reform Club, Pall Mall [London], esquire to secure £4,000 at unspecified interest on:(b) Wood Close of 12/2/30 arable in occupation of Edward Peck. (ba) cottage and garden of 1 rood 13 perches in occupation of Edward Peck; (bh) Lawn Wood of 28/3/11, lately wood but then grubbed up for arable in occupation of Samuel Marsh; (V) Z 951/7/7 (VI) Z 951/7/8(VII) Indenture of mortgage of 11 Mar 1882 from WHG to Robert Barry Stafford, auctioneer and Walter Budworth Jessopp, solicitor, both of Bedford to secure £2,000 on (a) to (c) in (IV) above. (VIII) Will of George Higgins of 13 Jul 1869 appointing Thomas Barnard and Turner Arthur Macan his executors. (IX) Codicil to will of GH of 28 Jul 1870 confirming his appointment of executors. (X) Codicil to will of GH of 3 Aug 1883 not affecting executors. (XI) GH died on 3 Aug 1883. (XII) Will and codicils of GH were proved at Northampton DPR on 26 Sep 1883. (XV) Foreclosure Order Absolute of 22 Jan 1886. (XVI) Indenture of conveyance of 8 Jan 1887 from Thomas Barnard of Cople House, esquire and Turner Arthur Macan of Elstow, esquire to Laurence Read Colburne Higgins of Bedford, common brewer for £6,000 of (a) to (c) in (IV) above and shown on an included plan [see overleaf]. (XVII) Indenture of mortgage of 8 Jan 1889 from LRCH to TB and TAM to secure £3,000 on (a) to (c) in (IV) above.
