Letter fifteen(pages 45-47) From Abraham to brother William. Writes of church affairs and "abuses therein". Son Abm Edwin absent from home for three months at the goldfields. Problem with lack of water to wash the gold, "vast numbers returning home to wait for the rainy season". Worries that most men will be leaving or demanding higher wagers. "Paying carpenters, joiners, bricklayers, plasterers and stone masons higher wages and unless gold is discovered there also, expects business to be very dull". A great increase in population expected whether gold is found or not. Purchased new residence fronting Elizabeth Street(gives details of building which includes hand drawn map). Had taken Edwin into partnership. Sent small box of various colonial woods(for the "Organ Builder"). Writes of their portraits of their present altered appearance and gifts sent and enclosed Captain's receipt. March 3rd "Since writing the aforegoing, gold has truly been discovered in VD Land and numbers are working at digging- no great finds". Wishes more of the members of the family would come over.
