    Leighton Buzzard.File (mostly correspondence) dealing with alterations to the surrounds of the War Memorial in Church Square. Two cedars (Cedrus Atlantica Glanca) are to be removed as they have grown to an extent considered to be "potentially dangerous" and are to be replanted in a more suitable site. P.G. Laws (County Planning Officer), Bedfordshire County Council writes "it would be a pity to fell the cedar trees which at present flank the monolith"(11 February 1964); J.W. Gardner Young, M.R.A.C.,Tall Trees,Blackpot Farm, Plantation Road, Lieghton Buzzard warns Leighton-Linslade Urban District Council that it would be "unwise" to remove them.Also included are final cost statement in the erection of a new boundary wall, pavings and ancillary works; existing and proposed plans; two photographs of the memorial flanked by the cedars taken on 24 August 1961.
