    Indenture of conveyance by feoffment from William Edwards the elder of Bedford, esq., (surviving feoffee of the land below) to John Gay of Wilstead, clerk, William Edwards the younger of Bedford, coal merchant, Thomas Costin of Wilstead, yeoman, Richard Bedcott of the same, yeoman, James Cox of the same, yeoman, Joseph Dearmer of the same, yeoman, William Bedcott of the same, yeoman, William Crane of the same, yeoman, Nathaniel Costin of Bedford, draper, Joseph Dearmer of Wilstead, yeoman, William Tompkins of the same, yeoman, and John Peirce of the same, yeoman, in pursuance and performance of the trust reposed in him and for divers other good causes and considerations, of: (a) pightle of pasture in Wilstead containing one acre abutting S. on a close called Hoggscroft and abutting N. on a lane called Hooked Lane and abutting E. upon the ground then belonging to William Manley the elder and now of Mr. Lownes, now in the occupation of Robert Archall ; and which was, by the will of Richard Edwards formerly of Wilstead, given to the poor of the parish of Wilstead for ever. Habendum to the new feoffees in fee upon the special trust and confidence that they 'order, rule and govern' the land and receive the rents, issues and profits from it and dispose of the same to the charitable uses 'designed by the pious donor' viz. that the yearly rents etc. be used upon the poor people of the town of Wilstead as ordered and appointed at the discretion of the vicar or curate of the parish and the churchwardens there; that when seven of the feoffees shall be dead, the surviving four shall by conveyance enfeoff seven other freeholders in Wilstead at the least and their heirs, this order to be for ever observed; provided that all leases and demises of the premises to any of the feoffees or their heirs ipso factor be void Dorse: sealing and delivery by WE the elder et al. and delivery of seisin to RB as the feoffees' attorney in the presence of Thomas Brashier, John Tuffnayle, and William Pedder; and sealing and delivery by WE the younger and NC in the presence of Edward Money and Thomas Bowen/?Bowery.
