    Attestation book for men of the 9th Battalion, the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Regiment. [The unit was raised in October 1940 as the successor to the 50th Holding Battalion (raised May 1940). Served in 220 and 222 Infantry Brigades in Norfolk County Division (later 76th Division) in coast defence of Norfolk, November 1940 – September 1942; in Kent (formation unknown) October 1942 – February 1943; in 33 Independent Guards Brigade (London District), February – October 1943 and in 199 Infantry Brigade off 55th Division in Northern Ireland, October 1943 – July 1944. Converted to an Infantry Primary Training Centre in Dunbartonshire and served as such from July 1944 until disbandment in May 1946.
