    Assignment of four Demises: John Herdson of London, esq., to Phillip Skidmore of London, esq., & Jerome Weston of Wroxwell (co. Essex), esq.; for £220. - The demises recited are:- (i) A farm or grange called Ravensden Grange in the parishes of Ravensden, Thurleighe & Wilden (assigned to JamesRussell of Northmymes (co. Herts.), gent., by Edw. Earl of Bedford, by deed dated 1595, having been originally leased by John Gostwick, esq., to Francis Russell (father of sd. Earl)); (ii) The office of keeper of the park of Melchbourne, with the lodge-house in the park, & herbage, pannage & fireboot (leased to J.Russell & Mary Hampden by sd. Earl & Countess Lucy his wife, from death of Chas. Harbert, gent. (the keeper), by deed dated 1595; (iii) The parsonage-house wherin Thos. Logsden dwelt, with a close called Pascrofte cont. 3ac., & land (parish not stated) (leased to J.Russell for 21 years by same lease dated 1595); & (iv) A messuage called Pottrells in Northmymes & 2 woods (leased to J.Russell for 21 years by Dudley Fortescue of Chilton (co. Suff.), by deed dated 1597. The deed recites that by Mortgage dated 1597, for £30 paid & in consideration of a debt of £429 3s. 4d. owed by J.Russell to sd. John Herdson, J.Russell assigned his interest in the 4 demises to Herdson; & Herdson had acquired the same owing to Russell's non-payment of mortgage-money. (Arml. seals).
