    James Lattimore, St.Albans, innholder. 14 October 1683. Was forced to leave St.Albans because of debt. Has known Th.Randall about a year; met Holtham for first time at Holborn. They travelled together to Uxbridge, Aylesbury and Leighton, to go to Holtham's estate in Warwickshire. The Examinacon of James Lattimore late of St Albans in the County of Hertford Innholder taken before Sr Francis Wingate Knt one of his Majesties Justices of the peace for the County of Bedford aforesaid the 14th of October Anno Dni 1683 This Examinant sayth that Thomas Randall one of the two men which were in his company yesterday at Laighton faire he know's, and that he hath known him abt a year, that formerly he dealt in horses but now he lives by what he has from his father who is a yeoman man & lives neare Puckeridge in Hertfordsheire. This Examinant also sayth that he hath been from St Albans abt 24 weekes and that he was forced to goe away for debt but that his wife & 3 children are still at St Albans: and that the other of the two men in his company he met with at the 3 Cupps Inne in Holbourne on Thursday last which was the first time he ever saw him, and that they three the same day tooke horse together at the said three Cupps Inne and went the next way to Uxbridge & on the morrow to Alesbury and the next day to Laighton faire, & when he came to Laighton he heard his name to be Holtham and purposed to goe with him in Warwicksheir to an estate the said Holtham told him he had there and that for his company he would beare his charges And further he sayth not.
