    Richard Butler, Salisbury Cout, (London), cutler. 19 January 1684. 1684 Lodged at Ric.Freeborne's house. Prisoners Holtham, Latymore and Randall got him to procure tools to cut off their fetters. The Examinacon of Richard Butler of Salisbury Court London cuttler taken the ninteenth day of January 1683 before me Thomas Christie Esqr one of his Majesties Justices of the peace for the County aforesaid This Examinant saith that about three weeks since he came out of Lincolne Sheire into this Country where he hath remained ever since & for the most part of that time hath lodged at the house of Mr Richard Freeborne Keeper of the County Gaole where he became acquainted with Mr Holtham Mr Latymore & Mr Randall and at their request but cheifly at Mr Holtham's (who said he was otherwise like to suffer if he did not make his escape) This Examinant bought of a Smith at Clapham in this County one file one chizill one hammer a punch & a bolster which he delivered unto the said Mr Latymore wherewith this Examinant beleivs they intended to cut off their fetters in order to their escape Tho Christie The marke of Richard Butler
