Thomas Tapp, Coventry, lab. 23 February 1684.
Bought black horse he sold to Jn.Whitfield from a man in Daventry. Says he is nearly blind. Charged with stealing 4 other horses he said they were all bought by him and tolled for. The Examinacon of Thomas Tapp of the Citty of Coventry laborer taken the 28th day of February 1683 before Thomas Christie Esqr one of his Majesties Justices This Examinant saith that this day sevennight he sold a stoned black horse with a Starr on his forhead to a Mr John Whitfeild of Warden for three pounds which horse he bought of a person whose name he hath forgotten at Dantry markett the Wednesday before where he is tolled for & that he is blind of the neare eye & his other eye is defective The marke of Thomas Tapp And being afterwards charged with the stealing of foure other horses whereof one was sold to William Bates another to John Baker and two to John Smith all of Warden aforesaid whereof that sold to John Baker this Examinant saith he bought at Nun Eaton of John Ellis & the Sorild horse sold to John Smith he bought at Lutterworth of a Stranger & for the other two one was bought at Dayntry & the other at Hinkley of William Brown & that they were all tolled for The marke of Thomas Tapp
