    Abstract of the title of Pryor Reid & Co. Ltd to Land in Baker Street, Luton 1907 Abstracting as follows: Part of the title (I) Conveyance from the Charity Commissioners, at the request of the Trustees of the Charity of Thomas and Edward Crawley in Luton (the Rev. Edmund Robert Mason of Luton, Vicar of Luton, Superintendent of Police, and Alfred Pilgrim of Luton, merchant, Churchwardens of the parish of Luton) and Robert Empson of Northwood, (Middx) retired cab proprietor (whom, it is recited, had agreed to buy the land and then agreed to sell it to JP before), to James Pollard of New Town St., Luton, dealer, for £520, of: (a)parcel of land then or late in the occupation of Benjamin Dimmock at the end of New town Street in Luton containing 1 acre 1 rood 7.5 poles, bounded on the S.E. and S.W. sides by land forming part of the Luton Hoo Estate, on the greater part of the N.W. side by a footpath then separating (Ia) from property belonging to Luton School Board. Other part of the title (II) Conveyance from Thomas Rolph of Hemel Hempstead (Herts), gentleman, Mary Hannah Bolton of Luton, widow, and Francis Bolton of 19 Spring Field Terrace (Lancaster), independent Minister of one part to Henry Taylor of Luton, dealer, for £200, of:2 Sept 1875 (a) parcel of land, formerly arable then used as part paddock and part garden, in Baily Field, Luton, bounded on the N.W. by land formerly owned by the Marquis of Bute but then cottages of Joseph Dancer, and at the rear of Chuse Street cottages on the S.E. by land formerly belonging to the Marquis of Bute but then to [ - ], on the N.E. by New Town Street and on the S.W. by land formerly belonging to William Townrow, then to the devisees of the late John Goward Leigh; which land including the paved footway in front of New Town Street comprised in depth 679 ft, width 74 ft, and contained 1 acre 24 poles, and was numbered 1156 on Parish Map of Luton and was formerly occupied by William Ainsworth and then David Thorn. Recites that Benjamin Bolton of Luton died seised of the above land; and that by his will of 5 May 1856 devised all his real estate to TR, MHB and FB upon trust for sale and appointed them as executors; death of BB on 17 Oct 1859 and probate of his will on 21 Nov 1859 in PPR(FB having attained his majority on 7 May 1859) (III) Declaration from HT to the London and County Banking Co. Limited of his deposit of scheduled deeds (namely (II) and a Conveyance dated 29 Sep 1840 from James Chase to BB; see X 843/10/2 (I) ) as a mortgage security for any loans of money by the bank. Names the joint General Managers of the bank as William Howard, James Gray and Josiah Blaylock Janes-3 May 1893 (IV)Conveyance from HT and London & County Banking Co. Ltd, as mortgagees, to James Pollard of New Town Street, market gardener, for £290, of land as in (II).9 Mar 1894 (V) Statutory declaration by JP identifying land purchased by him in (I) and (IV); and that during 1900 an extension of Baker Street has been cut through the S.W. end of the same-12 Mar 1900 (VI)Conveyance from JP to Pryor Reid & Co. Ltd of the Brewery, Hatfield (Herts), for £117 10s 0d:, of (a)piece of land in Luton bounded on the S.W. by Baker Street(40') S.E. by an intended new road from Baker Street to New Town St (80'), N.E. and N.W. by other land of JP [part of land as in (V)] Release from PR & Co. Ltd to JP of: (b)parcel of land lately belonging to JP and situated at the corner of New Town St extension and Cambridge street, Luton from the right of way over the same and leading from the corner of Surrey Street and Baily street to the back of premises belonging to Pryor Reid & Co.
