    Deposition: Edward Mores. 13 October 1679 In widow Chapman's blacksmith's shop Jn. Winch said to Thos. Crawley 'Here's the Rogue that works for 8d. a day, when others have 12d.' Quarrel followed. J.W. ran a red hot iron rod into T.C.'s eye. Nicholas Browne, blacksmith. Evidence of quarrel and assault as above. The Informacon of Edward Mores taken upon oath the 13th day of October 1679 before Sr John Napier Baronett one of his Majesties of peace within the Countie of Bedford. This Informant saith Thomas Crawley, John Winch, & others were this morninge in the widdow Chapmans shopp (beinge a Black Smiths shopp) And John Winch said heer's the Rogue that workes for eight pence a day, when others have Twelve pence (meaninge the said Thomas Crawley, who replyd that he had ten pence a day, which words were spoken severall tymes with oathes on both sides of the truth of it, whereupon the said John Winch haveinge a red hott Iron rod in his hands did immediately run the same into the eye of the said Thomas Crawley and further sayth not. J Napier The Informacon of Nicholas Browne Blacksmith taken upon oath the 13th day of October 1679 before Sr John Napier Barrt one of his Majesties Justices of peace within the County of Bedford. This Informant saith that he beinge servant to the widdow Chapman and at worke at his trade John Winch, Thomas Crawley and others came into the shopp this morninge and the said John Winch said heer's the Rogue that workes for eight pence a day when others have 12d a day, meaninge Thomas Crawley, who reply'd, you lye you old Rogue I have 10d (which words of Lye and Rogue, were spoken by them both severall tymes) The said John Winch beinge lightinge a pipe of Tabacco with an iron rod beinge red hott, Did run the same into the Eye of the said Thomas Crawley, and told him that he would teach him to stare in his face, and further this informant sayth not.
