    Deposition: Elizabeth, w. of Thomas Grant, tailor, 23 February 1680 Found false coins hidden at stairs' head while cleaning in the 'Peacock', lately occupied by Ric. Allen. Villa Bedford The Informacion of Elizabeth the wife of Thomas Grant of the Towne of Bedford Taylor taken upon Oath the 23th day of January Anno Domini 1679 before me Thomas Christie one of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace there This Informant saith That she being this morning sweeping and cleansing the severall roomes of a Mesuage or Victualling howse called the Peacock in the Towne of Bedford aforesaid lately in the tenure of Richard Allen (who is now a Prisoner in the County Gaole for the suspition of coyning Counterfeit Money (as she is informed) she this Informant in an obscure place there at the Staires head in a hole betweene a board and the Wall covered with Chaffe dust and other Sluttery found twoe severall parcelles of counterfeit money now produced and delivered into the hands of me the said Thomas Christie consisting of half Crownes shillings and Nine pences.
