    Deposition:Francis Fry, gent., prisoner in Oakham Gaol (Rutland). 8 Oct. 1678 More evidence of Ric. Rolfe and Geo.Sole and the 2 highwaymen. The Informacion of Francis Fry gent. now Prisoner in the Goale att Oakham in the County of Rutland ...." 8 October 1678 before Cornelius Burton Esq., a J.P. This Informant sayth that he was well acquainted with William King and Henry Clayton, Richard Rolfe and George Sole of Fletwick in the County of Bedford in the yeares 76 and 77 or thereabouts, and that upon his owne knowledge the said William King and Henry Clayton kept intelligence and had severall dealings with the said Richard Rolfe and George Sole for 12 months together or thereabouts and in perticuler the said King and Clayton severall tymes dureing the tyme aforesd lodged att and made use of the severall houses of the said Richard Rolfe and George Sole And that the said George Sole received of the said William King one Grey Hatt edged about with a silver or gold edging which said Hatt was taken out of York Coach by the said Will. King or some of his Company on or about June in the yeare 77 upon a Robbery att or neare Stangate [?Staugate] (Upton, nr Alconbury) Hole in the County of Huntington And that the said George Sole had in his keeping the summe of Thirty pounds delivered unto him by the said Henry Clayton And that the said Henry Clayton about that tyme went or was called sometimes by the Name of Henry Greene and sometimes by the Name of Henry Page And that the said William King about that tyme went or was called by the Name of William Cooke And that the said George Sole on or about July 77 sent the said Henry Clayton from Fletwicke aforesd to Upper Shadwell in the County of Midd. where the said Clayton was entertained by a Kinswoman or the said George Sole one Mrs. Wiseman and was entertained there by her by the Name of Henry Page, pretending he concealed himselfe there for Deare stealing And that one John Sheppard lately convicted of Felony in or about November 77 left a Bay Gelding about 14 hands high with a Hawke Nose att the house of the said Richard Holfe in Fletwick aforesaid, as he this Examinant was told by Clayton That the said William King last june was 12 Months left a litle bay nagg about 13 hands high att the house of Richard Rolfe aforesd That the said King kept a Grey Gelding about 14 hands high haveing but One Eye att the house of the said Sole and made use of him upon occation And one other Grey Gelding about 14 hands and halfe of Claytons was kept att the house of the said Rolfe and soe was shifted from house to house and made use of there was occation FRANCIS FRY
