    Deposition:George Norris, Wenslow (Bucks), innkeeper. 10 Feb. 1679. Having lost at cards to Jn. Farum, in presence of Jn. Perkins and Jn. Wore, found remainder of his money gone from his pocket, and suspects them of theft. John Fairam, Lincoln. Geo. Norris lost all his money, and price of his mare, to him. John Perkins, Farnton (Notts). Evidence as above. John Woore, Gartropp (Lincoln). As above. The Information of George Norris of Wenslow in the County of Buckingham inkeeper taken this tenth day of February 1678 by & before Henry Ferrow Esqr Recorder of the said Burgh and one of his Majesties Justices of the peace there and Henry Bell one other of his Majesties Justices of the peace there. Who upon his Oath sayth that upon Monday the Third instant John Farum John Perkins and John Wore came to this Informant in the Fayre of Bigglesworth in the County of Bedford where this Informant was in the sale of some horses demanding where this Informant lay & he told them he lodged att the Wrestlers Armes in Bigglesworth & the said John Perkins went with this Informant to his said lodging where this Informant went into the Kitchen of the said house with the said Perkins & dranke some beere together there and afterwards att the instance of the said Perkins they withdrew into a Chamber of the said house the said Parkins saying he would pay for the Fagott & some tyme after their being in the Chamber the said John Farum came into the said Chamber to this Informant & the said John Perkins where they continued untill after supper where the said Farum did speake and discourse of goeing to Cardes asking this Informant whether he would beate by to which this Informant replyed he had as good play as beate by yet this Informant refused to play by the space of one houre & they continued instigateing this Informant to play the said Perkins & Farum not playing in all that tyme afterwards the said Farum & this Informant did play together with Cards att a game called All Foures untill this Informant had lost 40s & then this Informant refused to play any more untill the said Farum offered att a bargaine for one mare of this Informant att the pric of iijL more by 10s then the said mare was worth from whence this Informant together with the said Farum & Perkins mett att the house of a Chandler shoppkeeper where the said Farum gave this Informant for his said mare iijL and 2s 6d to the boy where the said Farum Perkins & Wore were all together the said Farum Perkins & Wore inticeing this Informant to play againe without which the said Farum would not pay the said 3L 2s 6d whereupon the said Farum paid the said money to this Informant & then they playd together att the game aforesaid untill this Informant had lost about 3L This Informant further sayth that att the tyme of this Informants entry into the said house of the Wrestlers Armes he had in his pockette in a purse the sume of 15L 5s 6d & this Informant received of the said Farum 3L the price of the said mare & this Informant in the said play att All Foures did loose att severall tymes to the said Farum five poundes att 20s & 10s by the game & this Informant putting his hand into his pockett to feele for his money to make stakes All his money was gone butt 2s 6d loose in his pockett And the said Informant Chargeth the said John Farum John Perkins & John Wore with the felonious takeing the said 13L 3s 00d from the person of this Informant by picking this Informant his pocketts & this Informant the said Perkins Farum & Woore came together to Kings Lynn aforesaid where in their way att St Ives in Huntingdonshire they lay in a house together & upon paying their reckoning this Informant sawe some remarkable peeces part of the said 13L 3s 00 in the hands of the said Perkins and Wore And this Informant upon his Oath sayth That he telling the said Farum he had lost his money out of his pockett they the said Farum Perkins and Wore laughed and the said Farum said he had won of this Informantfifteene poundes and further that the said Farum did lend to this Informant 20s to beare his Charges to Lynne aforesaid Henry Ferrow Recorder Henry Bell The Examination of John Fairam of the City of Lincolne taken the day & yeare abovesaid before the said Henry Ferrow & Henry Bell. Who sayth that this Examinant mett with the said George Norris att Bigglesworth Fayre askeing how he did & saying shall wee not drinke together the said Norris desireing this Examinant to goe & vouch an horse he had sold & the Examinant saying he would come downe to his lodging & drinke a pott att the Twoe Wrestlers where this Examinant & the said George Norris & John Perkins were together & there the said Norris & this Examinant fell to play & there they played all night untill of the Clock on Tuesday the next day after in the Information of the said George Norris mentioned where this Examinant won 15L of the said Norris & from thence they the said Norris Perkins and this Examinant went together to the Chandlers in the sd Information named where they mett with John Woore in the Information named & there this Examinant and the said Norris treated about the price of a Mare of the said Norris the said Norris demanding foure pounds as her price and after some tyme this Examinant bought the said Mare att three poundes giveing the boy of the said Norris 0: 2s 6d where they continued drinking some tyme the said Norris said hang itt you shall take itt all I will have the other game with you and they againe fell to play at all foures att 10s a game and some tymes att 5s untill this Examinant had won the said 3L 0s 0d and the next morning being Wednesday the said Norris came to this Examinant and borrowed of this Examinant 20s & from thence they all came in company to Kings Lynne on Thursday att night This Examinant having businesse there to enquire after one Anty who had made an escape out of Lyncolne Goale being there deteyned for a debt due to the Excise The Examination of John Perkins of Farnton in the County of Nottingham taken the day & yeare abovesaid before the sd Justices Who sayth that he mett with George Norris att Bigglesworth fayre att the tyme and place in the Information named where this Examinant asked the said Norris whether they might drink brandy together & they went together to the quarters or lodging of the said Norris where the said John Fairham in the Information named came into their Company and there the said Fairam & Norris went to Cards att all Foures this Examinant lookeing on & not playing all the while & they falling att odds about dealing & soe they gave over & then they fell to play againe att a Guyney by the game & the said Fairam won five guyneyes the said Norris never turned game & they played untill Norris said he had no money left the said Norris asked the said Fairam whether he would buy his greate Mare his little Mare and a Nagg or any of them & they went downe & see them & they could not agree and they went together to the Chandlers in the Information and there he asked whether the said Fairham would buy eyther of his said mares Fairam bad 50s for the little Mare & thereupon they agreed att 3L 2s 6d & Fairam paid the money & Norris asked whether they would goe to Cards againe they played there together about an houre & then Norris said he was sleepy & that he would have aboute with him the next morne att which tyme the said Norris went to the said Fairam his lodging & there this Examinant found them drinking & from thence they came together to Lynne where this Examinant came to see his friends & acquaintance more especially John Shurlowe who did owe his father money & Thomas Witty a debtor of his father The Examination of John Woore of Gartroppe in the County of Lincolne taken the daye and yeare abovesaid by and before the said Justices Who sayth that he was att Bigglesworth in the Information with the said persons in the Information named where in the Chamber of this Examinant inthe house of the Chandler in the Information named the said Fairam & the said Norris in the Information bargained for a Mare att 3L 00: 00: and 0 2s 6d given to the boy & this Examinant see the money paid and afterwards the said Fairam & Norris fell to play & the said Norris lost all his money to the said Fairam att All Foures att 10s per game & some tymes att 5s per game & on Wednesday following they with the said Perkins came together to Kings Lynne on Thursday att night this Examinant intending from Lynne where he had no business to goe for Norwich to see some friends Hen: Ferrow Recorder Henry Bell
