    Deposition:Henry Geeve, Biggleswade, lab. 23 Nov. 1678 Confesses theft of grain from Hen. Rudd's barn, together with James Blazeden, who told him 'that if he would be ruled by him -- and keep his council he need never do dayes worke as long as he lived. The Information of Henry Geeve of Bigleswade in the county of Bedford labourer taken upon oath before Robert Audley Esqr one of his Majesties Justices of the peace for the county afforesaid, on the three & twentieth daye of November Anno Dni 1678. This Informant saith, that betweene Candlemas and Lady daye last one James Blazeden of Bigleswade afforesaid roper told this Informant that he the said James had a bushell & a halfe of white wheate, out of the parsonage barne at Bigleswade, & that the saide James desired him to goe along with him to steale graine cut of that barne & Mr Henry Rudds barne of Bigleswade afforesaid & that the said James told this Informant that he the said James could steale ten pounds worth of graine out of the said barnes if he had but one to goe along with him that would be true to him & this Informant saith he dressed the said wheate for the saide James; and this Informant further saith that about a fortnight after Candlemas last the said James told him that he the said James were to the said Henry Rudds barne & lifted the doare off from the hinges & tooke some pease out of the barne, which pease this Informant saw & he conceives them to have beene about two Bushells & further this Informant saith, that the said James at another time would have had this Informant have gone allong with him to Mr William Rudds malthouse of Bigleswade afforesaid to steale malt & that he allso told this Informant that if he would be ruled by him the said James & keepe his councell he need never doe dayes worke as long as he lived; & further this Informant saith, that he knew not then whither the said James spoke those words in jest or good earnest, till it was talked that he sold much graine & that was the reason he complained of it.
