    Deposition:Richard Jackson, servant to James James. Found Grace Day, his master's servant, hiding in beanfield with stolen goods after burglary. The Information of Richard Jackson servant to James Janes of Tilsworth in the County of Bedford yeoman taken upon oath before Sr Francis Wingate Knt and William Duncombe Esqr two of his Majesties Justices of the peace for the said County of Bedford the 23th day of July Anno Dni 1678. This Informant sayth That comeing from Plough about ten or eleaven of the clock of this present day, neare his Masters house he found a black hatt, which he knew did belong to his sayd Master, and therefore suspected that some person had been in the house, and goeing into the house he found the back doore standing onely by the Latch, and calling and finding not anybody in the house, he went to the next neighbours and enquired there for his Masters Maid, who told him they knew not where she was, but that they see a Wench in a black hood run up the ground just before, whereupon this Informant pursued after her, supposing she might have stolen something out of his Masters house, but could not apprehend her, but she being apprehended by his fellow servant, this Informant sayth there was found neare the place where she lay hid in the Beanes, a peece of Cloth of a darke Colour, which he knew to bee his Masters, and alsoe some Pewter Spoones and a Coller Band or two, but whose goods they were this Informant knowes not: And further sayth not.
