Title
Deposition: Charles Taylor.
Details of fight. It was Robt. White who struck J.W. with a whip and killed him. The Examination of Charles Taylor taken before me Thomas Hillersdon Esqr one of the Justices of the peace for the County of Bedford the 22th of May 1678 This Examinant sayth that coming from Luton to Stapleford Mill about the middway the sayd John Wethered and William Dearmer overtooke me Charles Taylor and one White put his horse on upon me to turne me out of the way, with that I held up my hand to put him out of the way with that the sayd John Wethered pressed upon me and struck at me with his whipp and with that I tooke hold of his horse bridle to put him out of the way, then he reached at him to strike him, and with that fell downe then the abovesd White stroke John Wethered with his whipp & upon that the sd John Wethered suddenly after died and further this Examinant sayth not; Taken this day and year Above written before me The marke of Charles Taylor T Hillersdon
