    Deposition: Humphrey Adams, Westoning, victualler. Richard Rolph and 2 others came to drink at H.A.'s house at R.R.'s invitation, and were joined by 4 horsemen. After argument with H.A. they went away. Later they came again, with Geo. Sole jnr. The Informacion of Humphrey Addams of Westoning in the County of Bedford victualler taken upon oath before Sir Francis Wingate knight .. 11th March 1678 This Informant sayth that about a month before Christmas last, he went to the house of one Richard Rolph in the parish of Flitwicke, and being asked to drinke by the said Rolph, the said Richard Rolph excused his drinke and said he had dranke better drinke the other day at the house of this Informant, whereupon a man then in the house (a Stranger as this Informant supposed) asked Rolph whether this Informant sold Ale or not, to which Rolph answering he did, the said Stranger desired that Rolph and he might goe to this Informants house to drinke, which said Stranger and another man that was then at Rolph's house, in company with the said Richard Rolph, came to this Informants house the next day about 10 or 11 of the clocke, and in the afternoone of the same day neare night, came foure horsemen more, and set up their horses, came into the house, and joyned company with the said Rolph and the two men was there before; and this Informant sayth that the said Rolph called one of the first two men (being an elderly man) Uncle; And this Informant goeing into the roome to make a fire, one of them said "Damme you, you rogue, what make you here. Why are you not rubbing the horse Leggs?" to which this Informant said he was noe more rogue then any of them, and told them he would cutt off their horse leggs, and came and rubb them by the fireside, and goeing out of the roome, they presently followed him, tooke their horses, and went away. And Rolph told this Informant that when he brought his freinds to his house againe he should use them better, and that about 8 or 10 dayes after three of the aforesaid persons came againe to this Informants house with one George Sole the younger of Flittwicke, and that one of them tooke a saddle from off a browne Gelding and put in it upon a Rou'd Gelding, which was before George Sole's horse, and imediately went their way: And further this Informant sayth not.
