Deposition: Richard Rolph, Flitwick, husbandman. 11 March 1678. Does not know King Clayton nor Shepperd, but was at Humph. Adam's house at time mentioned. Details of persons who came to house, including Butcher. The Examination of Richard Rolph of Flittwicke .. husbandman... before Sir Francis Wingate kt. ... the 11th day of March 1678 This Examinant sayth that he knew not King Clayton nor Shepperd but that he was at Humphrey Addams his house in Westoning at the time mencioned in the said Humphrey Addams his Informacion, in company with one Henry Butcher of Newport and another person whom he thinks was a Tanner in Newport, but did not know his name, and that there came three or four persons to the house whilest they were there, and came into the roome to this Examinant and his two freinds, but this Examinant sayth he kenew them not, but he thinkes they were known to the said Henry Butcher. And that the said four persons went away leaveing himselfe and Henry Butcher and his freind behind in the house, but whether they went he knowes not, And that Butcher and his freind went with him to his house and lay there that night, and went away the next morneing, and that he knew not the name of Butcher's freind, neither did he enquire of Butcher what his name was, And that the said Butcher lay at his house but that night onely; And further sayth not.
