    Deposition: John Taylor, Aldersgate. lab. 1678 Rode the mare to show a friend, and returning could not find H.B.; and sold her in Dunstable. The Examinacon of John Taylour late of the parish of St Botolphs Aldersgate in the County of Middx Laborer taken before Sr Francis Wingate Knt one of his Maties Justices of the peace for the said County of Bedford the 16th day of May Anno dni 1678 This Examinant sayth that he was about buying a Mare in Smithfeild of one Humphrey Blackwall of Litton in the County of Derby, and that the said Humphrey Blackwall desired him to ride her, which he did, leaving six pence in the hands of the said Humphrey Blackwall, with promise to make it up three pounds halfe a Crowne, if he liked her, and rideing about halfe a mile out of towne to shew her to a freind, he came backe againe into Smithfeild, and not finding the said Humph: Blackwall there he rid the said Mare to Dunstable Faire, and there sold her for fourty shillings to one William Bettham of Abbots Aston in the County of Bucks; and further sayth not.
